Dear MLC Aquatic Swimmers & Families

3 KEY OUTCOMES FOR ONLINE DRYLAND PROGRAM

We have 3 key outcomes we would like to achieve from this program:

  1. Mental health and wellbeing of our athletes

It is crucial that in these times of social distancing we can provide some meaningful connection between our swimmers as well as provide them with an outlet from their limited daily routines.  By providing some daily structure (closer to what our swimmers are used to) will assisting swimmers in managing their time with meaningful tasks.   During this time the coaches will also be aiming to keep an eye on our cohort of swimmers and provide “an ear” to listen or help problem solve any issues or concerns swimmers may have.

  1. Maintain our strong group cohesive culture and training work ethic

Over the years we have developed a supportive team culture as well as a culture of hard work, discipline and determination.  Now more than ever we need to draw on our values and look to support and assist any members of our community who may not be in the most positive frame of mind given their temporary individual situation.  Keeping this strong team culture now will also assist us to develop and grow as things return to normal.

  1. Maintain a cohort of fit healthy athletes who are ready to commence regular pool training (whenever that is available)

Currently we are unsure of how long we will be in this situation.  For those who are competitively minded we need to be fit and ready to return to our normal training schedules as quickly as possible.  Our swimmers need to have a good level of aerobic fitness, they need to be strong and athletic and need to have good mobility and flexibility in order to jump back into our pool based program successfully.
