State Squad
State Squad swimmers are generally aged 13 years and older and train 4-5 sessions per week with 2 gym sessions & multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are expected to attend training and competitions as prescribed by the coach. Swimmers in this group swim at a state level. State squad will also be open to year 11 / 12 students who have previously competed at a state or national level but cannot commit to a full training load due to educational commitments. These swimmers will be required to do a minimum of 3 sessions per week, compete in some competitions.

Equipment
Swimmers are expected to have the following equipment - Short blade fins, snorkel, pull buoy, large paddles, kickboard, band, thera-band (small paddles are an optional extra).
Health & Injury Management
With the training loads swimmers in the State Squad are subjected to, it is suggested that swimmers undergo physio screenings, blood tests and health information sessions in order assist with maintaining a healthy injury free body.

National Performance Squad swimmers are generally aged 15 years and older and train 8-9 sessions per week with 3 gym sessions & multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are expected to make a full commitment to the training and competition schedule as set by the head coach. Swimmers in this group are aiming to final and medal at Australian Age Nationals, make semi-finals and finals at Open National Championships and gain selection on Australian Junior, Youth and Open Teams. Development Squad swimmers are generally aged 10-12 years and train 4-6 sessions per week with 1 gym session and multiple dry land session per week. Swimmers show a high level of ability in competitive swimming and a strong desire to improve their training and competition performances heading towards state and national age qualifying times. District Squad swimmers have the ability to train 1-3 sessions per week. Swimmers are generally aged 11 years & older. There are no obligations to compete or to join the MLC Aquatic Swimming Club but swimmers are encouraged to do so. Read More

Junior Squad swimmers train 2-4 sessions per week and multiple dry land sessions. Swimmers are generally aged 7-10 years. This squad provides an introduction to training for competition to junior level competitions and novice meets.
