MLC Coaches

Nick Veliades 


Nick joined the MLC Aquatic team as the Head Coach in May 2011.  Nick coaches the National Performance Squad and oversees the coaching staff within the club.  Nick is a Gold licence coach and also has a Bachelor of Applied Sports Science where his major interests were physiology, biomechanics and nutrition. Nick is also a level 1 Strength & Conditioning Coach.

Nick has coached numerous swimmers to Age National medals and onto junior Australian teams such as the Trans-Tasman Team, Youth Olympic Team, the Junior Pan Pacific Team and the World Junior Championships team.  Nick was selected on the 2008 Junior Pan Pacific Team as a Team Coach.  Nick has been named Victorian Age Group Coach of the Year and Victorian Open Water coach of the year on numerous occasions.

Phil Clark


Phil joined MLC Aquatic as a coach with over 8 years of teaching and coaching experience.  Previously, Phil has been part of the Melbourne Vicentre coaching team primarily looking after the squad programs that run out of the Korowa school pool.  Phil's experience, passion and enthusiasm for swimming and coaching will be an asset to the club and college.  Phil joined MLC Aquatic on 20th June 2016.

Jayden Brian


Jayden joined MLC Aquatic on 10th October 2016 from Wyndham swimming club where he was a coach for 5 years, coaching swimmers from junior to national level.  Jayden was selected by the Victorian Coaches association to receive a coaching scholarship to attend the National coach’s conference in 2015 where Jayden completed the Silver license coaching course. He was also a coach on the Swimming Victoria Bronze Development camp in 2014 and 2015, and on the Silver camp in 2016.  Jayden is currently studying physiotherapy at Latrobe University.

Jack CollinsJack Collins


Jack has been a member of MLC Aquatic since 2010 and represented the club and state and national level events including the Australian Olympic Trials.  Jack has been teaching and coaching within the MLC Aquatic swim school for the past 3 years and is currently completing his 3rd year of a Bachelor of Education at Deakin University.  Jack is a Bronze licence coach who brings a great sense of fun to the groups he coaches.

Gemma BennettGemma Bennett

Gemma was a member of MLC Aquatic and is an MLC student who has transitioned from competing at a state level to working within the MLC Aquatic swim school.  Gemma assists with the Junior squads, District squad and swim school squads on a weekly baises.
