MLC Aquatic Squad Structure
MLC Aquatic is a community based competitive swimming club that promotes the development of swimmers of either gender, at every stage, from Learn to Swim at MLC Swim School through to national and international level athletes.
The MLC Aquatic squad structure is designed to give swimmers the ability move up, across & into a squad that will meet their swimming needs based on age, swimming ability, swimming goals and commitment level.

It is important for the coach, swimmers and parents to be in constant communication about the squad and swimmers goals and swimmers progress. National Performance Squad swimmers are generally aged 16 years and older and train 8-9 sessions per week with 3 gym sessions & multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are expected to make a full commitment to the training and competition schedule as set by the head coach. Swimmers in this group are aiming to final and medal at Australian Age Nationals, make semi-finals and finals at Open National Championships and gain selection on Australian Junior, Youth and Open Teams. National Squad swimmers are generally aged 13-17 years and train 7-8 sessions per week with 3 gym sessions & multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are expected to make a full commitment to the training and competition schedule as set by the head coach. Swimmers in this group are aiming to qualify for and compete at the Australian Age National Championships and Victorian Open State Championship. Read More

State Squad swimmers are generally aged 11-14 years and train 4-6 sessions per week with 2 gym sessions & multiple dry land sessions per week. Swimmers are expected to attend training and competitions as prescribed by the coach. Swimmers in this group are qualified for Victorian State Championships and are aiming to progress towards Age National Qualifying times. Read More

 | Senior State Squad swimmers are generally aged 15-17 years
and train 3 sessions per week with 1 gym session & multiple dry
land sessions per week. The squad is designed to cater for older state
level swimmers who have a higher work load at school and cannot commit
to the training requirements of State, National or Performance squads.
Swimmers are expected to be members of MLC Aquatic and to compete where

Development Squad swimmers are generally aged 9-11 years and train 4-5 sessions per week with 1 gym session and multiple dry land session per week. Swimmers show a high level of ability in competitive swimming and a strong desire to improve their training and competition performances heading towards state age qualifying times. Read More

Junior Squad swimmers train 2-4 sessions per week and multiple dry land sessions. Swimmers are generally aged 7-10 years. This squad provides an introduction to training for competition to junior level competitions and novice meets. Swimmers are expected to join the MLC Aquatic Swimming Club and to compete in district and club level competitions. Read More

District Squad swimmers have the ability to train 1-3 sessions per week. Swimmers are generally aged 11 years & older. There are no obligations to compete or to join the MLC Aquatic Swimming Club but swimmers are encouraged to do so. Read More
